Jayhawks to Participate in 2014 HOF Women’s Challenge

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Kansas women’s basketball will take part in the 2014 Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge as announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Thursday afternoon.

The Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge, hosted by the Hall of Fame and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, is an annual women’s exempt college basketball tournament featuring eight schools. All event proceeds benefit the non-profit Hall of Fame.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to play three quality teams in Alabama, Georgetown and Temple inside Allen Fieldhouse,” said head coach Bonnie Henrickson. “We will certainly have our hands full with great games here and then an opportunity to play a quality team in Notre Dame on a neutral court. Being able to play at Mohegan Sun, where the Connecticut Sun play, is a great opportunity for our players and from an exposure standpoint with quality competition.”

The Jayhawks will host six games in Allen Fieldhouse from Nov. 21-23 featuring Alabama, Temple and Georgetown. Notre Dame will host Harvard, Quinnipiac and Holy Cross for six games from Nov. 23-25.

On Nov. 30, KU will face Notre Dame at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. to conclude the second annual HOF tournament.
