IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 conference unveiled the 2014-15 women’s basketball schedule on Wednesday afternoon. Kansas returns four starters from a year ago and will face 14 opponents that appeared in last season’s NCAA Tournament during the upcoming season, including six in league action.

The Jayhawks’ non-conference schedule includes three conference champions, seven squads that reached the 20-win plateau and at least one opponent from each of the “big five” conferences. KU will play 10 of its 13 non-conference games in Allen Fieldhouse. During non-conference action, Kansas will host Georgetown, Temple and Alabama for the Hall of Fame Tournament, while concluding the tournament against National runner-up Notre Dame at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Kansas opens its Big 12 slate on the road against Texas on Jan. 3. It is the first time since 2012 that the Jayhawks have begun league play away from Allen Fieldhouse. The Longhorns won both meetings versus KU in 2014 and are one of six Big 12 foes to play in the 2014 NCAA Tournament.

Four days later, on Jan. 7, the Jayhawks host Oklahoma in their first home conference game of the 2015 slate. OU finished its 2013-14 campaign with a 9-9 Big 12 record for a tie in fifth place. The Sooners joined Texas in appearing in the postseason action last season.

Next, KU heads west on I-70 to face Kansas State in the first of two Sunflower Showdowns. Last year, the Jayhawks won two of three games against K-State, including an overtime win at the Big 12 Championship.

Kansas then returns to Allen Fieldhouse for a two-game homestand, starting on Jan. 14 with TCU. The Jayhawks split the series with the Horned Frogs a year ago. On Jan. 17, KU welcomes defending Co-Big 12 Champion Baylor. Kansas upset the Lady Bears in 2014, ending their 53-game conference win streak.

The Jayhawks hit the road again when they travel to Texas Tech on Jan. 21. KU swept the series against the Lady Raiders last season and senior forward Chelsea Gardner recorded a career-high 34 points in Lubbock. A few days later, Kansas hosts West Virginia on Jan. 24, which shared a piece of the regular-season title with Baylor. The Mountaineers finished with a 16-2 Big 12 record and earned a spot in the postseason.

On Feb. 21, KU heads south for a match-up with Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls recorded an 11-7 mark in league play and finished tied for third place in the conference standings in 2013-14. Oklahoma State was another Big 12 opponent to appear in the NCAA Tournament last year. Kansas concludes the 2014-15 regular season at home with Iowa State on March 2.  The Cyclones advanced to the postseason with a 9-9 conference record and 20-11 overall mark.

The Big 12 schedule features a double round-robin format in which the Jayhawks will face each conference opponent twice. The 2015 Big 12 Championship will be held in Dallas, Texas at American Airlines Arena from March 6-9.
