Jayhawks Improve on Second Day at the SALLY

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Kansas senior women’s golfers Gabriella DiMarco and Minami Levonowich each vaulted up the leaderboard in their second rounds at the 89th Annual South Atlantic Women’s Amateur Championship, also known as the SALLY, at Oceanside Golf and Country Club Thursday.
 
DiMarco improved six strokes and shot a 2-over 74 on Thursday. Her two-round 154 (+10) has her tied for 16th in the 63-golfer field as she entered the day tied for 23rd. DiMarco, from West Chester, Pennsylvania, is two shots from the top 10 in the event.
 
Levonowich, from Houston, carded an 82 (+10) on Thursday, improving five strokes from her opening-round 87. She moved up 15 spots and is tied for 47th entering Friday’s third of four rounds at the SALLY. Sierra Brooks of Sorrento, Florida, shot a 1-under 71 on Thursday and leads the event with a two-round 143 (-1).
 
Held the second week in January, the SALLY is a four-day event which draws some of the top U.S. amateurs. Last year, Levonowich finished 23rd at the SALLY, while DiMarco placed 37th.
 
The 89th Annual SALLY will continue with 18 holes on Jan. 16 and 17.
