Levonowich Shoots 74 on Day Three at the SALLY
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Kansas senior women’s golfer Minami Levonowich carded a 2-over 74 in her third round at the 89th Annual South Atlantic Women’s Amateur Championship, also known as the SALLY, at Oceanside Golf and Country Club, Friday. Levonowich sits tied for third in the first flight, while fellow KU senior Gabriella DiMarco is tied for 23rd in the Championship Flight after three rounds.
Levonowich’s 74 on Friday tied for the third lowest round on the day in the 63-golfer field. The Houston native has a three-round 243 (+27) which is tied for third in the SALLY First Flight and 39th overall. Levonowich, who has improved every round of the event (87-82-74), is two strokes behind SALLY First Flight leader Sophie Olley at 241 (+25).
DiMarco shot an 82 (+10) Friday and is at +20 (80-74-82—236) entering Saturday’s final round. The West Chester, Pennsylvania, native is three shots from the top 20 and five from the top 15. Sierra Brooks of Sorrento, Florida, shot a 3-under 69 Friday to increase her lead by nine strokes. Brooks has a three-round 212 (-4).
Held the second week in January, the SALLY is a four-day event which draws some of the top U.S. amateurs. Last year, Levonowich finished 23rd at the SALLY, while DiMarco placed 37th.
The 89th Annual SALLY will conclude with 18 holes on Jan. 17.
