Kansas Places Ninth at Florida State Match-Up

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Kansas women’s golf team carded a third round 301 (+13), placing them in ninth at the Florida State Matchup in Tallahassee, Fla., at Southwood Golf Club Sunday.

Kansas finished the tournament with a three-round score of 921 (+57). Leading the Jayhawks was Thanuttra “Fhong” Boonraksasat who ended the tournament in a tie for 32nd following a third round 79 (+7). Fhong finished the event with a total score of 229 (+13).

Freshman Pornvipa “Faii” Sakdee followed Fhong for the Jayhawks as she recorded a tournament total 232 (+16) behind a third round 74 (+2). Faii finished the event tied for 40th in the 60-golfer field.

Kansas sophomore Yupaporn “Mook” Kawinpakorn and junior Minami Levonowich both ended the weekend with a final score of 234 (+18) placing them in a tie for 45th. Mook shot a third round 75 (+3), while Levonowich carded a 74 (+2). Rounding the Jayhawk squad was senior Meghan Potee who shot a final round 78 (+6) placing her in a tie for 51st with a final score of 235 (+19).

South Carolina won the event with a three day total of 871 (+7) behind a third round 288 (-3) in the 11-team field. Just behind South Carolina was Clemson who ended the weekend with an 873 (+9). Clemson shot better in the final round carding a 284 (-4).

For the Match-up portion of the tournament Kansas and Furman finished in fifth place with a three round total of 1139. Clemson and Virginia won the Match-up event with a final score of 1092.

The Jayhawks will next travel to Augusta, Ga., where they will partake in the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate on March 14-16.
