DALLAS – The third round of the SMU Invitational at the Dallas Athletic Club was canceled 45 minutes into the final round on Sunday due to lightning in the Dallas area.

The morning started with an hour delay prior the first tee shot. The players were able to finish three holes before the siren rang again halting play for the second time and shortening the event to two rounds which were played Friday and Saturday.

The Jayhawks finished the tournament with a two-round total of 605 (+29), which was fifth in the 16-team field. With the fifth-place result, the 40th-ranked Jayhawks have placed in the top five in six events in 2013-14, including two tournament titles, and have finished no lower than ninth.

KU was led by sophomore Yupaporn “Mook” Kawinpakorn who shot a three-over par, 147, placing her in a tie for seventh in the 87-golfer field. Mook led KU for the second-straight tournament and recorded her fifth top-10 finish of the 2013-14 season.

Jayhawk freshman Pornvipa “Faii” Sakdee finished in a tie for 23rd behind a 153 (+9). Junior Minami Levonowich and senior Meghan Potee ended the event one shot behind Sajdee with a 154 (+10), placing them both in a tie for 28th.

Rounding out the Jayhawks was senior Thanuttra “Fhong” Boonraksasat who carded a 161 (+17) placing her in a tie for 64th.

Baylor won the event with a two round card of 591 (+15), four shots ahead of runner-up LSU’s 595 (+19).

Up next the Jayhawks will travel to Columbus, Ohio, where they will partake in the Lady Buckeye Invitational on April 19-20.
