COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kansas sophomore Yupaporn “Mook” Kawinpakorn and senior Thanuttra “Fhong” Boonraksasat each tied for sixth to lead the No. 39 Jayhawks to a fifth-place finish at the Lady Buckeye Invitational at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio, Sunday.

Kansas shot a 304 (+16) as a team Sunday and finished the three-round event with a 916 (+52). KU entered the day tied for fourth with Purdue and even though KU improved by one shot from its second round 305, the Jayhawks ended the tournament seven shots behind the fourth-place Boilermakers (909, +45). Tourney host Ohio State won the 12-team event with an 852 (+28), eight strokes ahead of Michigan State and Kent State which tied for second at 900 (+36).

After a rough first two rounds Saturday, Kansas freshman Pornvipa “Faii” Sakdee led the Jayhawks on Sunday with a 2-over 74. Faii finished in a tie for 38th with a three-round score of 237 (+21) in the 72-golfer field.

Just behind Faii, Fhong shot a 3-over 75 Sunday, while Mook carded a 77 (+5). The duo ended the three-round event with a 227 (+11). They tied Aurora Kan of Purdue and Claudia Lim of Ohio State who also finished at 227. Kent State’s Jennifer Ha won the tournament with a 218 (+2), one stroke ahead of Kelly Gressel of Michigan State (219).

Jayhawk junior Minami Levonowich placed in a tie for 31st as she carded a third round 78 (+6), bringing her event total to 235 (+19). Rounding out the Jayhawk five was senior Meghan Potee who shot a 9-over par 81 Sunday, bringing her three-round score to 236 (+22), placing her in a tie for 34th.

Kansas junior Michelle Woods, who competed as an individual, carded a final round 82 (+10), giving her a three round total of 251 (+35), placing her in a tie for 68th.

Up next the Jayhawks will travel to Austin, Texas, where they will begin their post-season play and partake in the Big 12 Championship at the UT Golf Club April 25-27.
