AUSTIN, Texas – Kansas freshman Pornvipa “Faii” Sakdee and sophomore Yupaporn “Mook” Kawinpakorn are both in the top 10 as the Jayhawks sit in third after two of three rounds at the 2014 Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship at the University of Texas Golf Club.

Faji led KU with an even-par 72 Saturday currently sits in a tie for 10th with a two round score of 148 (+4). Starting the day in a tie for the tournament lead, Mook fired a 1-over 73 for her second round and is in third in the 44-player field, with a total score of 142 (-2). Faji is vying to become the second straight KU freshman to earn Big 12 All-Tournament Team honors by placing in the top 10. Last year, Mook finished her Big 12 Championship tied for 10th earning all-tourney recognition.

Seventh-ranked Oklahoma leads the event after posting a 292 (+4) in the second round, bringing its total to 583 (+7). Texas is currently three shots back at 586 (+10), behind a second round 289 (+1) and is followed by Kansas which shot a 295 (+7) Saturday and has a two-round 592 (+16). KU entered the day tied for fourth.

Kansas junior Minami Levonowich and senior Thanuttra “Fhong” Boonraksasat both carded a 75 (+3) Saturday. Levonowich did so after shooting a first day 76 (+4) bringing her two day total to 151 (+7), placing her in tie for 24th. Fhong’s 75 was done so behind two birdies which helped increase he score by seven strokes from the first round bringing her two day total to 157 (+13), placing her in 38th.

Rounding out the Jayhawk squad is senior Meghan Potee who carded a second round 76 (+4) for the second straight day. Potee sits in a tie for 26th with a total score of 148 (+4).

Natalie Karcher of Texas leads the individual portion with a two round score of 140 (-4). Oklahoma’s Chirapat Jao-Javanil sits just one stroke behind Karcher in second place with a card of 141 (-3) and Mook is in third at 142 (-2).

The Big 12 Championship will conclude with 18 final holes tomorrow, Sunday, April 27.
