Kansas Women’s Golf Heads to NCAA Championship

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas women’s golf team headed approximately four hours straight south of Lawrence to Tulsa, Oklahoma, Saturday afternoon to compete in the 2014 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship, May 20-23, at Tulsa Country Club.
 
Seniors Thanuttra Boonraksasat and Meghan Potee, junior Minami Levonowich, sophomore Yupaporn Kawinpakorn and freshman Pornvipa Sakdee, along with head coach Erin O’Neil and assistant coach Katy Nahm, will have practice rounds on Sunday, May 18, beginning at 11:44 a.m. and Monday, May 19, at 9:24 a.m. The No. 29 Jayhawks will be playing the first two rounds with No. 18 Virginia and No. 24 and Big 12 member Iowa State. The three teams will start on hole No. 1, May 20, at 8:36 a.m. and on hole No. 10, May 21, at 12:56 p.m.
 
Kansas is competing in its second-ever NCAA Championship as a team. KU won the 1990 Big Eight title and was an automatic qualifier to the event where the Jayhawks finished 14th. In 2014, Kansas was an at-large selection to the NCAA Central Regional, May 8-10, and finished tied for fifth with Ohio State at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma, placing the Jayhawks in the 24-team NCAA Championship field.
