Boonraksasat Shoots 65 at LPGA Event in Thailand

NAKHON NAYOK, Thailand – Kansas women’s golfer Thanuttra “Fhong” Boonraksasat shot a 7-under-par 65 in the final round of the Fifth Singha-Sat Thai LPGA Championship at Watermill Golf and Garden Friday.

Boonraksasat recorded a 4-over 76 in each of her first two rounds and entered the final day tied for 32nd in the 55-golfer field. The Bangkok, Thailand, KU senior then carded seven birdies and an eagle in her final round as her 65 was the low round of the day and tied for the low-round score for the tournament. Boonraksasat’s three-round 217 (+1) improved her 20 spots, tying her for 12th overall and four shots behind winner Renuka Suksukont’s 3-under 213 (72-72-69). Boonraksasat finished tied for fifth among the 19 amateurs in the field.

The Fifth Singha-Sat Thai LPGA Championship is the fifth of eight professional events held in Thailand in 2013. Last month Boonraksasat tied for 15th at the Fourth Singha-Sat Thai LPGA Championship at Black Mountain Golf Course in Hua Hin, Thailand.

Boonraksasat was second on the KU team in 2012-13 with a 75.9 stroke average. She was KU’s top scorer in five of 12 events during the season and posted six top-10 finishes.
