LAWRENCE, Kan. – After a second-place finish at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational, the Kansas women’s golf team will continue it’s fall season in Minneapolis at the Minnesota Invitational September 15-16, at Minikahda Golf Club.

The Jayhawks will be represented by sophomore Pornvipa Sakdee, junior Yupaporn Kawinpakorn, seniors Michelle Woods and Gabriella DiMarco and freshman Kallie Gonzales.

Sakdee is entering the tournament after winning by three strokes with a score of 216 (E) at last week’s Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational in Lawrence. Kawinpakorn and Woods will also look to continue their strong play after they finished in the top five at the Marilynn Smith with a score of 222 (+6).

DiMarco carded a top-20 finish in last week’s tournament as she tied for 19th with a 228 (+12) and  Gonzales, the only freshman in this week’s line-up, shot a 238 (+22) as she ended up tied for 35th.

The tournament will be taking place at the Minikahda Club, a 6,119 yard par-72 course that has been established since 1898. Kansas will be facing a 13-team field that will consist of Minnesota, Kent State, Nebraska, GRU-Augusta, Cal State Fullerton, Illinois, Texas State, Colorado, Texas, SMU, East Carolina, Purdue and Fresno State.

The competitors will play two rounds, 36 holes, on Monday, September 15th, then they will conclude with round three on Tuesday, September 16th. Last year, Kent State won the Minnesota Invitational with a score of 902 (+38).
