HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – Kansas junior Yupaporn Kawinpakorn shot an even-par 72 and moved into a tie for second after two rounds at the Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate at Highlands Ranch Golf Course Saturday. As a team, KU slipped one spot and is in second heading into Sunday’s final round.

One of three Jayhawks in the top 10 after two rounds, Kawinpakorn carded four birdies Saturday and is tied for second with Kansas State’s Olivia Eliasson with a two round 143 (-1) in the 75-golfer field. Long Beach State’s Kassidy Teare leads the field by one shot over Kawinpakorn and Eliasson. KU sophomore Pornvipa Sakdee entered the day in first and slipped to fifth at 145 (+1) with a 75 (+3) in her second round. Jayhawk senior Minami Levonowich shot a 73 (+1) Saturday and is tied for eighth at 148 (+4).

Kansas held a two-shot lead over Kansas State entering the second round in the 12-team event. The Jayhawks shot a 296 (+8) Saturday, while KSU shot a 292 (+4). KU’s two-round 585 (+9) is two strokes behind KSU’s 583 (+7).

“We gave shots away on the par fives today and need to do a better job of putting ourselves in position to at least have a look at birdie,” KU head coach Erin O’Neil said. “Tomorrow will be all about sticking to our course strategy, focusing on what’s in our control and fighting for every shot until the very end.”

KU senior Michelle Woods shot a 74 (+2) Saturday and is tied for 17th with a two-round 151 (+7). Jayhawks senior Gabriella DiMarco was one shot behind Woods with 75 (+3) for her second round. DiMarco is tied for 13th at 150 (+6), while freshman Pitsinee Winyarat, who is playing as an individual, shot a 79 (+7) Saturday and is tied for 51st at 159 (+15).

The Jayhawks will conclude the Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate third and final 18-hole round on Sunday, Oct. 12.
