Globe-Trotting Jayhawks: Jayde Christopher

From Aug. 8-18, the Kansas women’s basketball team and staff will embark on a 10-day foreign tour through France and Switzerland, as the Jayhawks aim to build team chemistry and grow together on and off the hardwood. Throughout the tour, which includes four games, a different player on KU’s 2016-17 roster will share what the team was up to each day while abroad.

Day 10 – Nice, France

Bonjour!

It’s hard to believe our European tour is coming to an end. It’s been a great experience thus far and I feel like I finished this trip off with a bang.

To start the day, we boarded the bus to Monaco and visited the capital el Roche. Along the way, we stopped at a perfume factory where we were able to see how the different perfumes, soaps and other cosmetics were made. There, I was able to buy my mom soap, which was a plus.

After finishing up the tour at the perfume factory, we went on to see beautiful Monaco and beautiful is an understatement. Looking out the window of the bus, just being able to see the scenery was breathtaking.

Immediately after we stepped foot in the city, we had the opportunity of seeing the exchanging of the guard. The guards watch over Monaco’s palace, which is home to Prince Albert II and his family. The guards watch the castle for 24 hours and after their time on duty is over, there is a big ceremony to show the transition of the next guard. After the guard exchange, I went on to tour, shop and see more of the beautiful city with my teammates.

Once we were finished with Monaco, we headed back to Nice where I did more sightseeing and got souvenirs for my family. To cap off my day, I took a walk on the beach and watched the sunset. I took pictures while the sun was setting.

Rock Chalk!
Jayde
