Three Kansas signees named McDonald’s All-American nominees

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas women’s basketball signees Zakiyah Franklin, Chandler Prater and Chisom Ajekwu have been named nominees for the McDonald’s All-America game, as announced by the organization this week. 

A four-star recruit, Franklin’s ranked No. 60 overall in the 2019 signing class by ESPN. Franklin is averaging 15.3points, 7.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds during her senior season at Winter Haven High School in Winter Haven, Florida. 

Prater is No. 73 overall in this year’s signing class by Blue Star Basketball Report. She’s averaging 15.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists, while shooting 49 percent from the field during her senior season at North Kansas City High School.

A product of Lawrence, Ajekwu becomes the seventh Jayhawk to hail from Lawrence, Kansas. She’s ranked No. 23 for her position and No. 117 overall by ESPN. Ajekwu is averaging 18.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks as a senior at Lawrence High School.
