Washington’s return garners Big 12 Player of the Week honors

LAWRENCE, Kan. – After her first week back on the hardwood, redshirt senior Jessica Washington earned her first Big 12 Player of the Week honor for the 2018-19 season and second of her career as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
 
Washington averaged 23.5 points behind a 53.8 shooting percentage to lead the Jayhawks to a 2-0 record on the week. In two starts, the sixth-year senior shot 58.3 percent from long range, while also registering six assists, three rebounds and three steals.
 
In her 2018-19 debut, Washington netted 30-point behind 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc against George Mason. Washington’s 30-point performance is the third time in career she’s scored 30 or more points in game. The guard also registered two rebounds, an assist and a steal against the Patriots.
 
Against Iona, Washington scored a team-high 17 points with five assists and two steals.
