Boonraksasat eyes top-10 finish on LPGA of Taiwan

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Former Kansas golfer and Thailand native Thanuttra “Fhong” Boonraksasat fired a 4-under, 68 during the second round of the 2016 Party Golfers Ladies Open at the National Golf Country Club in Yuanli Township, Taiwan, Thursday as part of the LPGA of Taiwan Tour.
 
Boonraksasat opened the event with a one-over, 73, but after her second-round performance currently sits in a six-way tie for fifth place overall with a three-under, 141. The second-round score of 68 marked the second-best effort on the day, trailing only Taiwan’s Tze-Han Lin’s round of 66. Lin leads the event by two strokes with a 136, at eight-under-par.
 
The open concludes Friday with the third and final round.
 
Boonraksasat’s last season with the Jayhawks was during the 2013-14 campaign, which culminated in Kansas’ first trip to the NCAA Championship in 24 years. She finished her senior season with a 75.62 scoring average, which ranks No. 11 all-time in KU history.
