Boonraksasat seventh at Thai LPGA Championship

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, Thailand – Former Kansas golfer Thanuttra Boonraksasat finished the 54-hole Singha-SAT Toyota Thai LPGA Championship in a tie for seventh place with a 5-under-par 211 at the Rancho Charnvee Resort and Country Club Friday.

Boonraksasat, whose collegiate career culminated at the 2014 NCAA Championship, opened the event Wednesday at 2-under after firing a first-round 70. She collected three birdies in the round and posted a 2-under effort on the front nine. As a result, Boonraksasat ended the first day tied for the lead of the 78-golfer field.

On Thursday, Boonraksasat shook off a double bogey on the second hole and ended her round at 1-under. After 36 holes, she was tied for sixth on the leaderboard. The final round Friday was pretty much a mirror image of the first round. Boonraksasat scored a pair of birdies on the front nine, before posting a bogey on the 10th hole and adding a late birdie to play the back nine even.

With the seventh-place finish, Boonraksasat ranks No. 29 on the Thai LPGA money list. She has played 17 rounds over six events.
