SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Freshman Yi-Tsen Chou shot a 73 to end day two of the Big 12 Championship in second place. After two rounds, Chou is one stroke over par to lead the Kansas women’s golf team to finish the second round to a tie for third place.
“Yi-Tsen played very steady for us,” head coach Erin O’Neil said. “Tomorrow it will be important for her to focus on playing the course and the process of each shot rather than getting caught up on scoring.”
Sophomore Victoria Chandra ended the second round tied for 13th place following a one over-par 73 performance on day two.
Ariadna Fonseca Diaz, who was tied for fifth after day one, carded a five-over 77 to finish the second round tied for 13th place. Fonseca Diaz shot a par on every hole on the back-nine.
Junior Pitsinee Winyarat also shot a five-over 77 to finish day two tied for 38th place.
Sophomore Chomchana Phuchanbanchob, who is nicknamed “Cake” fired an 84, which landed her in a tie for 45th place.
As a team, KU carded a 14-over 302. Kansas fired nine birdies on the day.
“The course will play completely differently (Sunday) due to the wind and we did a good job of keeping our heads in a good place,” O’Neil said.
The Big 12 Championship will conclude with the third round that will begin at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
