DALLAS –  Sophomore Yi-Tsen Chou shot 1-over in round two of play to lead Kansas at the Big 12 Championship on the Blue course at Dallas Athletic Club Friday. Chou ended the day at 12-over heading into the final round of play Sunday, as the threat of rain Saturday forced 36-holes of play Friday.

The Jayhawks shot 59-over as a team after two rounds on day one of the event. Kansas sits in ninth place overall, while Chou is tied for 33rd.

“We could do better hitting out of the trees when we got in trouble, we made doubles when we should have made bogeys, we had too many chips where we didn’t get them on the green and that’s just giving shots away,” said head coach Erin O’Neil.

Freshman Sera Tadokoro got off to a strong start shooting even par over her first three holes and then added a birdie putt on No. 17 to leave her 1-under on the back nine. However, Tadokoro struggled on the front nine, after carding a bogey on hole No. 2 and followed by a triple-bogey on No. 3. Tadokoro ended round one 7-over, but sits in a tie for 41st at 20-over after an 85 in round two.

Sophomore Xinyun Yu shot 7-over in the first round and 11-over in the second. However, Yu’s round was highlighted by an eagle putt on hole No. 13. Yu is alone in 40th overall.

Junior Ariadna Fonseca Diaz posted a 5-over second round, after scoring 9-over in the first. She is tied for 36th overall, while sophomore Chomchana Phuchanbanchob is 45th.

With the off day, the Jayhawks return to play Sunday for an 8:00 a.m. start.
