Two Jayhawks in top-20 heading into final round of LSU Tiger Golf Classic

BATON, ROUGE, La. – Kansas sophomore Sera Tadokoro carded a round of even par 72 on Saturday and is in a tie for 13th place overall to lead the women’s golf team after 36 holes of play at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic. As a team, the Jayhawks are sitting in a tie for seventh place with a 615 (306-309) entering the tournament’s final round on Sunday.
Tadokoro moved 27 spots up the leaderboard and improved seven strokes on Saturday’s second round. She started off strong with a 2-under effort and four birdies on the front nine and ultimately finished the day with six birdies on the way to her sixth round of par or better this season. The Osaka, Japan native will enter Sunday’s final round with a 36-hole total of 7-over par 152 (79-72).
After recording her eighth under-par round of the season in round one, Yi-Tsen Chou shot a 9-over 81 on day two and is in a tie for 19th, giving the Crimson and Blue two golfers in the top-20 individuals. Chou has a two-day total of 8-over 152 heading into the final round (71-81).
Freshman Pear Pooratanaopa improved one stroke from day one, firing a 6-over 78. After starting off hitting for par on eight of her nine holes, Pooratanaopa couldn’t get past two double bogeys on the day and sits in a tie for 34th place. Pooratanaopa holds a collective 13-over 157 score (79-78) on the par-72, 6,266 University Club course.
Senior Chomchana Phuchanbanchob is tied with Pooratanaopa in 34th place. She hit for par on 10 of 18 holes and has a two-day 157 (77-80).
Redshirt freshman Aristelle Acuff rounds out the Jayhawk lineup as she carded a 7-over 79 with two birdies of her own.
Competing as an individual this weekend, junior Xinyun Yu shot 6-over 78, putting her at a collective 9-over 153 heading into Sunday’s final round. She collected two birdies on the day and is sitting in a tie for 25th place.
The third and final round of play will tee off Sunday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT. Live scoring throughout the event can be found on Golfstat.com.
