KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas sophomore women’s golfer Kallie Gonzales tied for 22nd in the 84-golfer field at the Kansas City Shootout Tuesday shooting a three-round 233 (+17) on the 6,124-yard, par-72 Shoal Creek Golf Club. Her 233 was a career best score for Gonzales as she trailed individual medalist Cynthia Diaz of UMKC by 13 strokes. Fellow KU sophomore MacKenzie Sexe carded a 252 (+36) to tie for 71st.
Gonzales hit five birdies throughout the event and averaged 77.7 strokes per round, a strong improvement over her 80.56 average in the fall. She was able to move up nine spots with Tuesday’s third round score of 76 (+4). Sexe shot an 86 (+14) in her final round.
Kansas will next see action in Lubbock, Texas, as the Jayhawks will compete in the Texas Tech Invitational April 8-9.
