WOODBURY, Minn. – Top Kansas finisher Pitsinee Winyarat shot an impressive 2-under for the final round at the Minnesota Invitational Tuesday. The junior had a consistent tournament for the Jayhawks, finishing 4-over for the event and tied for 39th.

In her final round, Winyarat did not let her errors get the best of her. She carded a bogie on No. 17, her second hole of the day, but recovered quickly with a birdie on No. 18, her third hole. Later on No. 11, her 14th, she carded her second bogie of the day but again immediately rebounded with a birdie on the next hole. Winyarat ended the day with four birdies.

“Liz hit more greens today (Tuesday) and finished strong for us,” said head coach Erin O’Neil. “Hopefully, it will give her confidence moving forward that she is very capable of shooting even par or better on a regular basis.”

Sophomore Yi-Tsen Chou also had a notable day for the Jayhawks. Coming off some recent summer success back in her home country of Taiwan, Chou was able to find her groove in her final round of the tournament. Chou scored a birdie on No. 18, her second hole of the day, and No. 3, her fifth. Chou finished 1-under and 5-over for the event.

“Yi-Tsen played extremely steady today (Tuesday) and hit lots of greens which helped lower her score,” said O’Neil.

Junior Chomchana Phuchanbanchob, playing as an individual, finished the round 1-over par and ended in a tie for 44th with fellow KU teammate Yi-Tsen Chou.

Veterans Kallie Gonzales and Arianda Fonseca Diaz rounded out the KU scoring. Diaz finished the day 7-over and Gonzales 8-over.

Overall, the Jayhawks remained consistent managing to shoot 298 all three rounds. Kansas finished the event in 14th place, only one stroke behind North Texas.

The Jayhawks will return to action next weekend for the annual Marilynn Smith Invitational which will begin Sunday, September 17th, in Manhattan, Kansas.
