Kansas Rowing to Scrimmage Tulsa Prior to 2014 Season

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Kansas rowing team will travel to Tulsa, Okla., on Saturday, March 8 for a scrimmage against the Tulsa Hurricane, in preparation of the 2014 spring season.

The most recent snowstorm to hit Lawrence has prevented the Kansas from practicing on the Kansas River, but it hasn’t stopped the Jayhawks from their intense schedule inside the Kansas Boathouse training facilities. This scrimmage will get the team on the water and provide the opportunity to “shake off the rust,” out amongst the elements.

“We need to get back on the water to see what we have,” head coach Rob Catloth said. “We are just trying to gain some valuable experience, have some trial and error and get better prepared for our first regatta.”

Kansas will travel to Oak Ridge, Tenn., on March 15 for the Louisville Invite, the first official regatta of the spring season.
