LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas rowing team travels to Catoosa, Oklahoma, for the two-day University of Tulsa Fall Invitational on Friday and Saturday, where they will be competing against Tulsa and SMU in the final regatta of the fall season.

The Jayhawks will have numerous crews competing in varsity eight, varsity four, novice eight and novice four events throughout the weekend. Racing is set to begin at 2:30 p.m., on Friday and will continue into the evening. Saturday’s competition is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.

This will be the first road regatta of the year for the Jayhawks, and head coach Rob Catloth knows it will be a great learning experience.

“The first road trip with the freshmen is always good because they realize how much of a team effort it takes to compete at a high level away from home,” Catloth said.

Kansas and Tulsa finished near the top in many of the races during KU’s Jayhawk Jamboree on Oct. 18 in Lawrence, and this weekend is shaping up to be another competitive regatta.

“Tulsa is a good match for us,” Catloth continued. “We are both progressing and I feel like we both push each other a lot, it’s a good friendly competition and rivalry which helps get both of us get better.”

The Tulsa Invitational marks the final race of the fall schedule. Kansas will return to Tulsa on March 5 for a head-to-head regatta to begin the spring season.
