Jayhawks Set 2014 Spring Schedule

Schedule

LAWRENCE, Kan. – A battle with one of professional soccer’s top squads, FC Kansas City, will kick-off a five-game spring exhibition schedule for the Kansas soccer team. The Jayhawks will take on FCKC for the second-straight year on Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m., at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.

Kansas, which opened its spring practice schedule Friday afternoon, will take on an FC Kansas City team which finished second in the National Women’s Soccer Team’s standings and advanced to the semifinals of the playoffs a year ago. KU and FCKC met last spring, also in exhibition play, with the pros coming out on top, 4-0.

A week later the Jayhawks will open the month of April when they welcome Big Ten foe Iowa (15-7-1 in 2013) on April 5. The match with the Hawkeyes will begin at 1 p.m., inside the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. On Monday, April 21, Kansas will again welcome FC Kansas City, however it will be the FCKC’s reserve team that KU will take on. That game is slated to begin at 5 p.m., also at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.

One of the Jayhawks’ spring matches is still to be determined. The date and time of that game will be announced at a later date.

Kansas finished the 2013 season at 7-11-2 and 2-5-1 in Big 12 play before falling to West Virginia in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Soccer Championship.
