Kansas Soccer Welcomes Iowa for Exhibition Saturday

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Kansas soccer team will continue its spring exhibition season Saturday when the Jayhawks welcome the Iowa Hawkeyes to Lawrence on Saturday, April 5. KU will take on the Big Ten foe in spring play for the fifth-straight year in the contest slated to begin at 1 p.m., at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. Admission will be free to the public.

Kansas, who opened its spring season with a 3-1 loss to the National Women’s Soccer League’s FC Kansas City last weekend, will meet an Iowa team which advanced to the NCAA Tournament last fall and turned in an overall record of 15-7-1. The Hawkeyes finished 5-5-1 in Big Ten play and advanced all the way to the title game in its conference tournament.

KU has taken on Iowa each of the last four spring seasons, earning a 2-1-1 record in that span, which included a 2-2 draw on April 20 last year. The Jayhawks have split the all-time series with the Hawkeyes, 1-1, however the two teams have not met in regular-season play since 1998.

Kansas finished its 2013 regular season at 7-11-2 and 2-5-1 in Big 12 play before falling to West Virginia in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Soccer Championship.
