Scottish Standout Joins Kansas Soccer

LAWRENCE, Kan. – A standout from the Scottish Premier League, Lois Heuchan, will join the Kansas soccer team in fall 2014, it was announced by Jayhawk head coach Mark Francis Thursday.

Heuchan was a three-year member of Scotland’s National Teams at the U15-U19 levels. The 5-foot-8 forward was also a four-year member of Celtic FC, which plays in the Scottish Premier League, one of the nation’s top club teams. In 2013 she netted 21 goals for her Celtic squad which finished third on the Premier League table.

“Lois has played at a very high level for the Scotland U19 National team and Celtic’s first team,” said Francis. “She is a very athletic, left-footed player that will help us in the wide-forward position.  She serves the ball from wide positions extremely well, is very technical and is a finisher.  We really struggled to score goals last year. Lois is one of the players who will help us change that this year.”

A Castle Douglas, Scotland native, Heuchan also played for Dumfries Girls F.C. for several years. She helped that group to the Scottish League cup and was named the Player of the Year by the Galloway News in 2010.
