Future Jayhawk Estrada Named High School All-American

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Incoming KU soccer freshman, Tayler Estrada, was named to the Girl’s High School All-America Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Estrada was named to the 29-player list for the second-straight season and was one of only eight players to earn the All-America nod back-to-back years.

The Bentonville, Ark., native is the state’s three-time reigning Gatorade Player of the Year and led her team, the Bentonville Tigers, to a 16-3-1 record and the Class 7A state title in 2013. The 5-foot-7 midfielder also scored 20 goals and passed for 24 assists in her senior year. The two-time 7A West Conference Player of the Year, Estrada is a three-time First Team All-State selection and now a two-time All-American honoree by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. She concluded her prep soccer career with 62 goals and 50 assists.

Each state is allocated a specific number of All-Americans based on the high school NSCAA membership in each state. Estrada was the only Arkansas native to claim a spot on the list. The honorees will be recognized at the High School Awards Brunch Aug. 3 in Orlando at the 2013 NSCAA Summer Symposium.

Estrada will join the Jayhawks in early August as they prepare to begin their 2013 campaign. The regular season will then kick off on Aug. 23 when Estrada will return to her home state to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville.
