KU Soccer to Play Host to Illinois State Sunday

LAWRENCE, Kan. – After snapping its three-game losing streak Friday night at South Dakota State, Kansas soccer will look to make it two in a row when it welcomes the Illinois State Redbirds to the Jayhawk Soccer Complex Sunday at 1 p.m.

Kansas will celebrate Family Day on Sunday, which means any parent of a Kansas student will be admitted for just $3. Fans who bring ticket stubs from the Kansas-Louisiana Tech football game will also be able to purchase their tickets for $3.

Sunday’s game will be broadcast live and can be heard by logging on to Jayhawk Digital Passport and listening to Josh Kurelac’s play-by-play radio call. Subscriptions are available in daily ($2.95), monthly ($6.95) and yearly ($49.95) increments. Live stat updates will also be available for free via the Jayhawks’ live stat page here and, as always, fans can get updates through Kansas’ twitter account, @KUWSoccer.

The Jayhawks (4-4-1) are coming off their second road win of the season, downing the South Dakota State Jackrabbits 2-1 Friday evening in Brookings. Junior Haley Yearout tallied her first-career goal in the 75th minute to give her team the upper hand and eventual game-winning goal. Sophomore Courtney Dickerson also got on the score sheet with her second of the season in the second minute of play.

Kansas will take the pitch against the Redbirds for the fifth time in the programs’ history Sunday. The Jayhawks lead the all-time series 3-1, however ISU has the edge most recently, posting a 2-1 win over KU in Normal, Ill., in 2010. The Redbirds are 5-5 in 2013 and are coming off a 2-1 loss to Milwaukee Friday night.

Next weekend Kansas will hit the road for its final non-conference match of the season when it travels to Santa Clara, Calif., to take on the Santa Clara Broncos on Friday, Sept. 27. The Jayhawks and Broncos are scheduled to kick off at 9 p.m. (CT).
