All That Sparkles: Havili, Williams Named Jayhawks of the Week

A pair of Kansas Jayhawks contributed a sparkling performance last week as Ashley Williams contributed a golden goal and Ainise Havili helped Kansas volleyball to a shimmering, flawless record. Both top performers were named KUAthletics.com’s Jayhawks of the Week on Monday.

Ashley Williams, Sr., Soccer
Williams picked a great time to net the first goal of her senior season. Just over two minutes into the Jayhawks’ fifth overtime match of the season, Williams headed in a cross from Taylor Estrada from six yards out to lift KU over Arkansas, 2-1. The header helped KU pick up its second-straight win and fourth victory on the road this season. The goal was Williams’ 18 of her Kansas career, which moved her to ninth on the Jayhawks’ all-time scoring list.

Ainise Havili, So., Volleyball
The national leader in assists per set, Havili directed Kansas through an undefeated sweep of the Jayhawk Classic and non-conference slate (12-0). In wins over South Dakota State, Gonzaga and Missouri State, Havili recorded 12.7 assists per set as KU hit a combined .396. The setter recorded a season-high 51 assists against Gonzaga. Havili leads the Big 12 in assists per set (12.4) while guiding a KU offense that leads the conference in hitting percentage (.331) and kills (15.5).
