KU Soccer Claims NSCAA Academic Team Award

LAWRENCE, Kan. – For the 10th-consecutive season, the Kansas soccer team has earned a Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) it was announced Thursday afternoon.
 
Head coach Mark Francis squad posted a team GPA of 3.45 during the 2012-13 academic year, marking the 10th-straight season the Jayhawks have earned a 3.0 grade point average or better, and the highest team GPA among the nine Big 12 soccer squads.
 
The Jayhawks were one of 593 women’s soccer teams (NCAA all divisions) honored by the NSCAA and joined six other Big 12 squads which were recognized. KU boasted nine Academic All-Big 12 selections this season, all of which were named to the first team. Kansas saw 18 of its 24 student-athletes who were members of the 2012-13 roster boast a cumulative GPA above 3.0 throughout the academic year.
 
Kansas finished the 2013 season at 7-11-2, falling to West Virginia in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Soccer Championship.
