IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 Conference announced the league’s 2016 volleyball schedule on Tuesday.

KU’s conference slate will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 21 against Oklahoma in Lawrence at Horejsi Family Athletics Center, where KU posted a 15-1 record and played in front of 14 sold-out crowds during the 2015 season. Big 12 play concludes on Saturday, Nov. 26 at Baylor.

The nine Big 12 volleyball squads compete in a double-round robin schedule, playing each conference opponent twice during the regular season. The Big 12 is currently the only “power five” conference in which each team faces its conference opponents twice during the year – once at home and once on the road.

The Jayhawks’ Oct. 22 bye weekend is during the midpoint of the 16-match Big 12 schedule.

Times and television appearances will be announced at a later date.

Kansas returns five starters and its libero from an unprecedented 2015 season that finished with a 30-3 overall record, 14-2 record in Big 12 play, and the program’s first-ever berth in the NCAA Final Four. Last season KU finished second in the Big 12 for the fourth straight season.
