No. 22 Kansas Makes Season Debut in AVCA Coaches’ Poll

AVCA Coaches’ Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Fresh off sweeping the field at the Kansas Invitational last weekend, including a straight-set win over Duke, undefeated Kansas volleyball is ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Poll for the first time this season.

Kansas (6-0) makes its season debut at No. 22 in the weekly top-25. It marks KU’s first return to the top-25 since September of last season.

“It’s a good sign that we’re headed in the right direction,” head coach Ray Bechard said. “It’s also a sign of much work that needs to be done moving forward. Our weeks will progressively get tougher as the season goes on.”

KU travels to Laramie, Wyoming for Pistol Pete’s Showdown this weekend, in which the Jayhawks will face two teams receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches’ Poll – host Wyoming and Marquette. Kansas begins the event against Northern Colorado on Friday at 11 a.m. Central.
