Six Jayhawks on Academic All-Big 12 Volleyball Team

IRVING, Texas Six University of Kansas student-athletes are listed on the 2015 Academic All-Big 12 Volleyball Team released on Tuesday.

Included in the six Jayhawks recognized for academic achievement are five first-team honorees – junior Maggie Anderson (Supply Chain Management), junior Tayler Soucie (Exercise Science/Pre Medicine), junior Cassie Wait (Finance), junior Janae Hall (Media Studies & Design), and sophomore Madison Rigdon (Exercise Science). Sophomore Ainise Havilli (Sport Management) is listed on the second team.

It is the second consecutive Academic All-Big 12 honor for Anderson, Soucie, and Wait. Anderson earned second-team recognition last season, while Soucie and Wait earned first-team honors.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.

A total of 54 Big 12 student-athletes are on the Academic All-Big 12 Volleyball Team, including 39 first-team selections.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
