LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas tennis head coach
Todd Chapman announced the signing of Anna Putilina of Ryazan, Russia, on National Signing Day on Wednesday. Putilina will join the Jayhawks in January of 2025 as a freshman.
"We are thrilled to add a player of Anna's ability and experience to our team in January," Chapman said. "Anna's best tennis is in front of her and we believe Anna will help our team this spring season reach our goals of being a nationally relevant program. We look forward to Anna getting here in January and making an immediate impact."
Putilina comes to Kansas as the No. 15 ranked junior in the country of Russia and was a semifinalist at the Russian Junior Championships. Putilina won the Ryazan Kremlin Cup in 2023 and followed her title up as a finalist in 2024.
Putilina joins an already impressive class, as the Jayhawks previously announced the addition of the JUCO National Champion Yerkezhan Arystanbekova on Oct. 23. Putilina and Arystanbekova will both join the Jayhawks in January of 2025.
Kansas recently completed its fall schedule and will set its sights on the Battle at Indian Wells held in Indian Wells, Calif., from Jan. 16-18, 2025. Kansas will then host seven straight home matches from Jan. 24 to Feb. 7, including matchups with Kansas City, Creighton, Iowa, Omaha, Wichita State, Wisconsin and Arkansas.
