LAWRENCE, Kan. – Keith Loneker Sr., a four-year Kansas football letterwinner (1989-92), passed away in Lawrence Thursday. Loneker, who was 46, is survived by a daughter, Kylee, and a son, Keith Loneker Jr., who is currently a junior linebacker on the KU football team.
A Roselle Park, New Jersey, native, Loneker played offensive tackle during his four years at KU. He helped lead the Jayhawks to a victory in the 1992 Aloha Bowl on his way to picking up All-Big Eight First Team honors during his senior year.
Loneker spent three seasons in the NFL, signing a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Rams following the 1993 NFL Draft. He not only made the team, but went on to start by the end of his rookie season, blocking for fellow rookie running back Jerome Bettis. Loneker spent all three seasons with the Rams (both in Los Angeles and St. Louis), seeing action in 19 games, starting five.
Following his career in the NFL, Loneker went on to have a career in film, landing acting roles in Out of Sight, Rock Star, Suberbad, Leatherheads and Lakeview Terrace.
