LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas swimming and diving standout
Shiyun Lai continues to dominate in her sophomore campaign, earning her third Big 12 Women's Diver of the Week recognition this season, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.
A native of Guangdong Province, China, Lai has proven to dominate the boards. She captured the honor after an impressive performance against Houston on Jan. 11, sweeping both diving events in commanding fashion. Lai scored 296.93 points to take first in the 1m event, and she followed it up with a stellar 331.65-point showing in the 3m event, securing another win and completing the sweep.
This latest accolade adds to Lai's program-record total of six career Big 12 weekly awards.
In the 2023-24 season, Lai had already cemented herself as one of the Big 12's top divers. She was named an Honorable Mention All-American and a CSCAA Second Team All-American while also earning CSCAA Scholar All-American honors. Additionally, she was a unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection and was recognized as the Big 12 Women's Newcomer Diver of the Meet last year.
