LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas men's basketball signee Darryn Peterson has been named a 2025 McDonald's All-American and will participate in the McDonald's All-American game on April 1 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Only 24 players among the more than 700 nominated were selected as 2024 McDonald's All-Americans. Peterson gives Kansas 52 total signees who have earned the honor, starting with Darnell Valentine in 1977. Current Jayhawks

A 6-foot-5 guard from Canton, Ohio, Peterson is nationally ranked No. 2 by ESPN.com and 247Sports.com, and No. 3 by Rivals.com. On the 2025 Naismith Trophy Boys High School Player of the Year Watch List, Peterson is playing his senior prep season at Prolific Prep in Napa, California, where he is averaging 23.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.9 steals per game.
Peterson played his first two years of high school basketball at Cuyahoga Falls High School in Cuyahoga, Ohio, and then transferred to Huntington Prep in West Virginia in 2023-24 before moving on to Prolific Prep. He played club basketball for Phenom United where he averaged 28.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 4.2 steals and 3.0 blocked shot per game this past summer in the Adidas 3Stripes Select league.
In 2023, Peterson won a gold medal with USA Basketball at the FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. At the championship, Peterson averaged 16.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.3 steals in earning all-tournament honors.
