LOS ANGELES – Kansas graduate center
Hunter Dickinson has been named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced today.
Chosen by a poll of national college basketball experts based on their performances during the 2024-25 season thus far, the list is comprised of 25 student-athletes who are front-runners for the Wooden Award. A two-time Wooden All-American, at Michigan in 2021 and at Kansas in 2024, Dickinson is aiming to become the third Jayhawk to win the Wooden Award, joining Danny Manning (1988) and Frank Mason III (2017).
Dickinson has been on the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List four times, while at Michigan in 2022 and 2023, and at Kansas in 2024 and 2025. Though he was not on the Wooden Award Midseason 25 Watch List, Dickinson would conclude 2021 as a Wooden All-American.
Coming off his fourth 20-point game of the season with 27 points at UCF (1/5), Dickinson leads Kansas in scoring at 16.0 ppg and rebounding at 10.3 rpg. A three-time Big 12 Player of the Week, Dickinson leads the Big 12 in double-doubles (7), which is 11th nationally, and is second in rebounds per game (10.3), which is 14th nationally. The Alexandria, Virginia, native also leads KU with 20 blocked shots and he is second on the team with 18 steals.
Dickinson is the only active player in NCAA Division I to have more than 2,400 career points and 1,200 career rebounds. Dickinson has 2,416 points and 1,282 rebounds.
The players on the list are considered strong candidates for the 2025 John R. Wooden Award Men's Player of the Year. Players not selected for the midseason list remain eligible for inclusion on the Wooden Award late-season list, and the National Ballot. The National Ballot will feature 15 top players who have demonstrated to their universities that they meet or exceed the Wooden Award qualifications.
Nearly 1,000 voters will be invited to rank 10 of the 15 players on the ballot in order of preference when voting opens during the NCAA Tournament. Voters will also consider performances in the tournament's early rounds, players' contributions to their teams and their character. The Wooden Award All-American Team will be announced during the week of the NCAA Tournament's "Elite Eight."
The winners and the All Americans of the 2025 John R. Wooden Award, presented by Principal, will be honored at the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Friday, April 11, 2025.
