LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas head coach
Brandon Schneider will be joined by
S'Mya Nichols,
Elle Evans and
Jaliya Davis at Big 12 Media Day, which will be held at the T-Mobile Center in downtown Kansas City, Missouri next Tuesday, Oct. 21.
Â
Nichols and Evans will both be representing Kansas at Big 12 Media Day for the second straight season, while Davis, a McDonald's All-American from Overland Park, gets her first opportunity to.
Â
Kansas is one of eight teams that will participate in the afternoon session of the event, which features various interview stations along with photo and content creation opportunities. The Jayhawks will be the first team to do the question-and-answer station during the second session, taking to the main stage at 1:25 p.m. CT. Coverage for Big 12 Basketball Media Days can be found on ESPNU and ESPN+ beginning at 11 a.m., with Kansas slated to join the broadcast at 1 p.m.
Â
Schneider is in his 11th season leading the Jayhawks. He has guided Kansas to the postseason three times in the past four seasons, including NCAA Tournament appearances in 2022 and 2024. His team was picked to finish sixth in the Big 12 preseason coaches poll, which was released last week.
Â
Nichols enters her junior season as a two-time All-Big 12 First Team selection and a unanimous choice to the Preseason All-Big 12 team for 2025-26. Last season, she led the Jayhawks and ranked fifth in the Big 12 in scoring at 18.6 points per game, scoring 20 or more points 16 times in 30 games.
Â
Evans is heading into her senior campaign at KU after earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mention last season. She ranked second on the team at 14.4 points per game while hitting 69 three-pointers, which tied for second in school history for a single season.
Â
Davis comes to Kansas as a five-star prospect and ranked the No. 19 prospect in the country by ESPNW, which makes her the highest ranked recruit signed by Kansas since ESPNW began rankings in 2007. She is the third McDonald's All-American in program history and the second to sign with Kansas out of high school.
Â
Kansas begins the 2025-26 season with an exhibition contest against Fort Hays State on Oct. 29 before hosting Kansas City on Nov. 5 in the first of seven non-conference home games.
