Peterson Named to Inaugural Big 12 Men’s Basketball Starting Five Weekly Honors

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas freshman Darryn Peterson has been named to the inaugural Big 12 Men's Basketball Starting Five, the league announced today.
The Big 12 Men's Basketball Starting Five is voted on by a media panel that votes on weekly honors that include the player and newcomer of the week. The five honored highlight additional strong performances from across the conference.
Peterson finished with 22 points at No. 25 North Carolina Friday after scoring 21 in the opener versus Green Bay on Nov. 3. The Canton, Ohio, guard is the first KU freshman to have back-to-back 20-point games since Ochai Agbaji (2/9/19 and 2/11/19). He's also the first KU player, regardless of class, to open the season with back-to-back 20-efforts since Agbaji did it in the first two games of the 2021-22 season.
No. 19 Kansas (1-1) begins a two-game homestand against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (1-2) on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Tip from historic Allen Fieldhouse will be at 7 p.m. (Central) and the game will broadcast on ESPN+.
