LAWRENCE, Kan. – Standout point guard Taylen Kinney has signed a National Letter of Intent to play men's basketball at Kansas, KU head coach
Bill Self announced today. Kinney will be a freshman at Kansas for the 2026-27 season.
Kinney, 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, plays for RWE at Overtime Elite in Atlanta. The Newport, Kentucky, native averaged 20.1 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game for RWE in the Overtime Elite League during the 2024-25 season.
"Taylen's one of the best point guards in the country," Self said. "He's a scoring point. He can shoot. He's got great vision. He can create for himself and create for others. Taylen's transition to college ball should be seamless. He's prepared to run a college basketball team."
A five-star recruit, Kinney is ranked No. 13 by 247Sports.com, No. 17 by ESPN.com, and No. 25 by Rivals.com. He is ranked as the No. 1 point guard in the country by 247Sports.com.
Kinney will join three other Overtime Elite players on the current Kansas roster including
Samis Calderon,
Kohl Rosario, and
Bryson Tiller.
Kinney becomes the second signee for Kansas men's basketball. Guard Trent Perry also signed with KU on Nov. 12.
