LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas men's basketball signees Davion Adkins and Taylen Kinney have been named to the 2025-26 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Boys High School Player of the Year Watch List, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced today.
The KU signees are looking to become the second consecutive and fourth overall Jayhawk to win the Naismith Trophy Boys High School Player of the Year. Current KU freshman
Darryn Peterson was the 2025 winner, while Andrew Wiggins (2013) and Cliff Alexander (2014) also took home the honor. The Naismith Trophy Boys High School Player of the Year started in 1987.
From Arlington, Texas, Adkins, is playing his final prep season at Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Adkins was the top-rated player in Texas before announcing his plans to play at Prolific Prep.
A five-star recruit, Adkins is ranked No. 27 by Rivals.com, No. 33 by 247Sports.com, and No. 46 by ESPN.com. He averaged 11.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.3 blocked shots while shooting 54.8 percent at the NBPA Top 100 camp this past summer.
Kinney plays for RWE at Overtime Elite in Atlanta. The Newport, Kentucky, native averaged 20.1 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game for RWE in the Overtime Elite League during the 2024-25 season.
