LAWRENCE, Kan. – Standout shooting guard Luke Barnett has signed a financial aid agreement to play men's basketball at Kansas, KU head coach
Bill Self announced today. Barnett will be a freshman at Kansas for the 2026-27 season.
A four-star recruit from Laguna Niguel, California, Barnett (6-foot-3, 170 pounds) averaged 21.0 points, 3.7 rebounds 1.9 assists, 1.4 steals his junior season at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. Also, last season, Barnett made 12 threes in scoring 51 points against Hoover High School.
"Luke's the best shooter we've recruited since Gradey (Dick)," Self said. "He has great range. He's got good size and is a powerful, tough athlete. Luke's an outstanding shooter, much like Gradey was when we brought him in."
Barnett played AAU basketball for Arizona Unity in summer 2025.
Barnett becomes the third signee for Kansas men's basketball. Trent Perry and Taylen Kinney signed with KU on Nov. 12.
