LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas swim and dive swept all three of the Big 12's accolades this week with junior Shiyun Lai winning Big 12 Women's Diver of the Week, sophomore Gabi Dyer selected as Big 12 Women's Swimmer of the Week, and freshman Sammy Cummins for Women's Newcomer of the Week.
"We had a solid meet against Houston and our three honorees definitely stood out," said Kansas head coach Clark Campbell. "It was a gritty performance by the entire team and we're looking forward keeping the momentum going this weekend."
This is Kansas' second time in the 2025-26 season when an athlete has claimed all three of the women's swim and dive categories. Lai picked up her third Big 12 diving award of the season and eleventh of all time at KU, adding to her decorated career. Dyer earned her first-ever Big 12 recognition with the victory over Houston, and Cummins added her second Newcomer of the Week honor with a personal best time against the Cougars.
For the third time at Robinson Pool this season, Lai swept the 3-meter and 1-meter dive competition with 369.23 and 334.43 points, respectively.
Dyer continued her strong season with two first-place finishes in 200-yard freestyle (1:49.06) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:52.00), finishing more than three seconds ahead of competitors.
Cummins was one out of three Jayhawks to set a new career record time of 4:24.03 in the 400-yard IM to finish second, along with a third place showing in the 200-yard butterfly (2:00.57).
