KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Led by four players in double-figures scoring, including a 20 point double-double from senior
Tre White, the No. 21 Kansas Jayhawks defeated the Missouri Tigers, 80-60, in the StorageMart Border Showdown at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo., on Sunday.

Kansas improves to 7-3 this season while Missouri falls to 8-2. The Jayhawks extend their all-time series lead over Missouri at 177-96 while improving to 235-87 all-time in games played in Kansas City, including 48-13 in T-Mobile Center.

The Jayhawks were led by four players in double-figures in scoring, including a team-high 20 points from White, who also led the team with a season high 13 rebounds. White was joined in double-figures by freshman
Darryn Peterson (17 points), freshman
Bryson Tiller (13 points) and
Flory Bidunga (10 points).

Kansas shot 46% (26-of-57) from the field, while holding Missouri to just 60 points on Sunday, marking the fewest points by the Tigers this season. Kansas has now won 6 of the last 7 Border Showdowns against Missouri.

Kansas and Missouri traded first half runs, including 6 lead changes in the first half, until the Jayhawks ended the half on a 12-2 run, including a 3-pointer from White at the buzzer. The 3-pointer gave Kansas a 33-25 lead heading into the break.

Out of halftime, Kansas upped its lead to as many as 18 points just three minutes into the second half. A pair of baskets by senior
Melvin Council Jr., gave Kansas a 44-26 advantage with 17:02 to play.

Kansas found success from Tiller and redshirt sophomore
Jamari McDowell, who scored 12 and 9 points, respectively, in the second half alone.

Kansas will return to the road to take on North Carolina State on Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, N.C. Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. Kansas leads the overall series with NC State, 13-1, including a 75-60 win on Dec. 14, 2024, in Allen Fieldhouse in the last meeting. Â
