LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Swim and Dive opens the 2026 calendar year on the road, traveling to Tempe, Arizona, to compete against Big 12 western opponents Arizona State, Arizona, BYU, and Utah at the Big 12 Showcase – West. The meet will feature two sessions on Friday, Jan. 16, beginning at 11 a.m. CT and 6 p.m. CT, followed by a final session on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 12 p.m. CT.
"We're beyond ready to start competing in the new year," said head coach
Clark Campbell. "Our training has been solid, and we're excited to get to the desert and race the western teams in our conference. It will be a new experience competing outdoors and dealing with the elements, but those challenges help make us tougher and more resilient. The meet should be a lot of sun and fun."
The showcase marks the Jayhawks' third road trip of the season. Each session across the two-day meet will include approximately one-third of the standard collegiate events. Teams may enter up to four student-athletes per individual event and a maximum of two relay teams. Individual events will consist of two preliminary heats followed by a final heat featuring the top swimmer from each competing school.
Kansas closed out 2025 with a sweep of Rockhurst, highlighted by a standout performance from
Gabi Dyer, who set a new Robinson Natatorium pool record in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:48.59. The record marked the fifth pool record broken by the Jayhawks this season.
