LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas men's basketball sophomore
Flory Bidunga has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the CSC announced today. Bidunga is a communications major with a sport management minor at KU.

To qualify for the CSC Academic All-District teams, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50, be at least a sophomore athletically and academically and participate in at least 90 percent of all contests.

The CSC Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with first, second and third team honorees announced on April 14, 2026.

The Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, All-Big 12 First Team and All-Defensive Team selection, Bidunga is a Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Semifinalist (1 of 10) and a Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year finalist (1 of 5). The Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, native averaged 13.3 points per contest and led KU with 9.0 rebounds per outing. Bidunga posted a team-best 13 double-doubles for the season, which ranks second in the Big 12 and 23rd nationally. Bidunga leads the Big 12 with 91 blocked shots, which is fourth nationally. His league-leading 2.60 blocks per game are fifth nationally and his 64.0 field goal percentage leads the Big 12 and ranks 10th nationally. At 13.3 ppg, 9.0 rpg, and 2.60 bpg, Bidunga is the only player in NCAA Division I to average more than 13.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots per game this season.

Only a sophomore, Bidunga has 145 career blocked shots, and he reached 100 blocks faster than any player in Kansas history, doing so in just 52 games. His 145 blocks rank 13th on the KU career list. Bidunga's 91 blocked shots this season are tied for sixth on the Kansas single-season list and his 64.0 field goal percentage is fifth on the KU and Big 12 season lists.
Bidunga moved to the United States his sophomore year in high school and played prep basketball at Kokomo High School in Indiana, where he was a 2024 McDonald's All-American.Â
Beginning in 1971 with Bud Stallworth, a Jayhawk has been named Academic All-America 20 times with the most recent being Tyrel Reed in 2011. Current KU assistant coach
Jacque Vaughn in 1997, and Cole Aldrich in 2010, were selected as Academic All-American of the Year.
