LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Associate Head Coach
Morgan Paige was announced as the new head women's basketball coach at Loyola University Chicago on Sunday. Paige has been on head coach
Brandon Schneider's staff for the past five seasons.
Â
Paige joined the staff at Kansas in April 2021 and served as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator during her first three seasons, before being promoted to Associate Head Coach in the summer of 2024. She previously spent five seasons on staff at North Dakota State following a year as a graduate assistant at Iowa State.
Â
"Morgan has been an integral member of Kansas women's basketball for the past five years and I'm thankful for the many contributions that she has made to our program," Schneider said. "We've known, supported Morgan's aspiration to become a head coach, and we wish her all the best with her new opportunity at Loyola."
Â
Kansas recorded a winning record in all five seasons with Paige on staff, making four postseason appearances. The Jayhawks reached the NCAA Tournament in 2022 and 2024, while winning the 2023 WNIT and advancing to the semifinals of the WBIT this past season. In her first year on staff, Paige assisted Schneider, the 2022 Big 12 Coach of the Year, as Kansas set the school record with a 14-win improvement from the previous season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Â
Paige recently participated in the WBCA Next Generation Institute, which is a high-level education program for experienced assistant coaches who aspire to become collegiate head coaches. The Institute was held in conjunction with the WBCA Convention, which took place in Phoenix on Final Four weekend.
Â
"I want to send my sincerest thank you to the Kansas athletic department - especially
Brandon Schneider and the women's basketball staff," Paige said. "I am the coach and the person I am today because of the impact that this program had on my life. To the players I was able to impact and the community support of the growth of our program, I will miss Lawrence dearly as I move on to my next adventure. Kansas has prepared me to lead, and I am ready to make them proud."
Â
Paige becomes the fourth former assistant coach under Schneider to advance from Kansas to a Division I head coaching position, joining Aqua Franklin (Lamar), Jory Collins (North Dakota State) and Terry Nooner (Wichita State).
