LAWRENCE, Kan. — Grant Mordini has signed to play men's basketball at Kansas, KU head coach
Bill Self announced today. Mordini will be a freshman at KU for the 2026-27 season.
Mordini, 6-foot-11, 210 pounds, played last season at Avon Old Farms School, a preparatory school in Avon, Connecticut. Prior to Avon Old Farms, Mordini played basketball at Lake Forest Community High School in his hometown of Lake Forest, Illinois.
"We're excited about Grant coming to Kansas," Self said. "At 6-foot-11, he will add depth at the center position and be a guy that makes us better every day in practice. He's been well drilled and well coached at Lake Forest and Avon and we look forward to having him be a part of our program."
At Avon Old Farms, Mordini averaged 12.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.8 steals in 22 games played in 2025-26. He shot 58.2 percent from the field and recorded seven double-doubles. Included was a 14-point, 19 rebound game against Trinity Pawling. He scored a season-high 24 points against Hotchkiss.
Mordini joins a loaded KU freshmen class that includes 2026 McDonald's All-Americans Tyran Stokes and Taylen Kinney, along with Davion Adkins, Luke Barnett, and Trent Perry. Additionally, KU has officially signed two transfers who have signed this spring in Leroy Blyden Jr. (Toledo) and Keanu Dawes (Utah).
